Privacy Policy — Map Quiz Master (Grey Mare Games)

Grey Mare Games (“us”, “we”, or “our”) offers a range of games (“Services”), available through our mobile apps. Grey Mare Games, Tzavella 72, 18534 Piraeus, Greece, is responsible for your data (the “controller”). Contact: info@greymaregames.com.

This page informs you (the “user”, “you”, “your”) of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Services or interact with our websites.

By installing or using our Services you agree to this Privacy Policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect and Use

The data we collect depends on how you interact with us and on your privacy settings. We also collect certain information automatically (directly and through third-party SDKs) to operate, analyze, and improve the Services.

Information you provide

  • Account: the nickname you choose, and the sign-in you use: Google Play Games (Android), Sign in with Apple (iOS; Apple may share your name and email address or a private relay address), or a device identifier.

  • Feedback and support: the messages you send us and, if you enter it, your email address, together with technical details (app version, device, approximate location) and your player ID and nickname.

  • Friends: the nicknames of players you connect with through invitations or friend requests.

Information collected automatically

  • Identifiers: advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / Apple IDFA), an analytics ID, a device identifier used to sign you in to your game account, and a push-notification token.

  • Device & usage: device type, operating system, model, language, time zone; the features you use, your scores and progress, and errors and crashes you encounter.

  • Age range from the app store: where the app store provides it, the game uses the age range of the account on your device to apply age-appropriate settings (see “Children’s Privacy”). We do not store or receive it.

  • Approximate location: general location (e.g. country or city) derived from your IP address by us and by our analytics and advertising providers. The app does not collect precise/GPS location.

  • Purchases: records of in-app purchases used to validate and grant them. Payment is processed by Apple/Google; we do not collect or store your card or billing details.

Information other players can see

Your nickname and scores are shown to other players on leaderboards, in friends lists and in challenges.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Game, and fix crashes and errors.

  • Communicate with you (notifications) and provide customer support.

  • Validate and grant in-app purchases.

  • Deliver and measure advertising, subject to your consent.

  • Apply age-appropriate settings.

Some data (identifiers and game data) is needed to provide the game; without it the game cannot work. Advertising consent and the details you send with feedback are optional. We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Advertising, Google Signed-In Data, and Your Choices

We display ads through Google AdMob and mediation partners. We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent. Where you consent to ad storage, your activity in the Game may be associated with information from your signed-in Google account to improve advertising audiences, bidding, optimization, and conversion measurement.

You remain in control:

  • View and delete this activity via Google “My Activity” (myactivity.google.com).

  • Change your advertising consent at any time in the privacy settings (Options → About), where the law of your region requires them. Withdrawing consent limits the collection and use of advertising identifiers.

  • iOS: the IDFA and cross-app tracking are used only if you grant permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt; you can change this in device Settings.

How We Share Information

We share information with:

  • Service providers that operate the Game (hosting/backend, analytics, crash reporting, support, payment processing).

  • Advertising & attribution partners that help deliver and measure ads. Some of these partners use device and advertising identifiers to build cross-app advertising profiles. Under certain laws (e.g. California’s CCPA/CPRA) this may be considered “sharing” of personal information. See “Your California Privacy Rights” below to opt out.

  • Legal requirements: to comply with law, court order, or subpoena.

  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Third-Party Services

We share data with the following partners, each for the purposes shown. They process it under their own privacy policies. We share data only with partners that are required to protect it in line with this policy and applicable law. The current list of advertising partners is shown in the in-app consent prompt.

  • Google: sign-in (Google Play Games), age range (Google Play Age Signals), ads (AdMob), and through Firebase: analytics, crash reports, notifications, game server and database

  • Apple: sign-in (Sign in with Apple), age range (Declared Age Range), payments

  • Microsoft PlayFab: game accounts, player data, leaderboards, purchase validation, notifications

  • Unity: ads (Unity Ads) and usage statistics (Unity Analytics)

  • Meta / Facebook: ads (Audience Network) and ad measurement through app events (with consent)

  • AppLovin, Liftoff/Vungle: ads

  • Branch: invitation links and ad attribution

Your Consent and Legal Bases (GDPR / EEA, UK)

For users in the EEA/UK, our legal bases are consent (advertising identifiers, personalized ads, optional analytics, via the in-app prompt), contract (to provide the Game and process purchases), legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services, fix errors, and prevent abuse), and legal obligation. You may access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, exercise data portability, and withdraw consent at any time, and may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority, in Greece the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents may request to know, access, delete, and correct their personal information, and are protected from discrimination for exercising these rights. Because advertising partners may sell or share personal information (e.g. building cross-app ad profiles), you may opt out of the sale/sharing of your personal information in the in-app privacy settings (Options → About). Cookies and Push Notifications

Our Services do not use browser “cookies” explicitly, but third-party SDKs may use cookies or similar identifiers. We send push notifications about challenges and the game; you can turn them off in your device settings.

Security of Your Data

We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information, and data is sent encrypted between the game and our services, but no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute safety.

International Transfers of Data

We may transfer and store your information on servers outside your jurisdiction, where data-protection laws may differ. We take appropriate measures to ensure adequate safeguards and confidentiality, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age.

When the app store tells the game that a player is under 18, the game applies age-appropriate settings, including non-personalized ads only and limited data sharing with our partners.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Your game account data is kept until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time; see “Delete Your Account” below.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your Map Quiz Master account at any time:

  • In the game: open Options → About → Delete Account and confirm. If you signed in with Apple, the game also ends its Sign in with Apple connection.

  • Without the game: email info@greymaregames.com with the subject “Delete my Map Quiz Master account” and your player ID (shown on the About screen) or your nickname. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email.

What is deleted: your account and the game data linked to it (progress, nickname, friends, challenge results, unused in-game items and sign-in links).

What may be kept: support messages you sent us, until you ask us to delete them (a deletion request by email covers them); crash reports, for up to 90 days; results of finished challenges, which are also part of other players’ history, until our periodic clean-up deletes them.

Purchases are kept by Apple or Google; purchased maps and Remove Ads can be restored with the same Apple or Google account.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy at any time and will notify you of material changes through a notice in the game or on our website. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
